Pop singer Ariana Grande is trending on Twitter after she was recently seen on her Instagram page sporting a new hairstyle and having ditched her ponytail!
Fans across the world can recognise Ariana Grande for her popular music, edgy video’s and her iconic ponytail, which even made its way into her wedding.
The singer has sported the ponytail for close to a decade now, so it came as quite a shock to fans to see the singer in a different style.
Ariana Grande’s new haircut is a bob!
- Ariana Grande has ditched her iconic high ponytail and recently posted a picture of her new haircut. Which shows off her bob, or rather a lob (long bob).
Grande posted on Instagram to show off her latest ‘do but later took it down. The image showed off her shoulder-length cut with an adorable fluffy orange bucket hat.
The 28-year-old singer told Billboard “So few people get to see it, and it’s cute, and it reminds me of me as a kid and it reminds me of … It’s who I am privately”, in reference to her natural hair.
The history of her hair revealed
Before her singing career, Grande played Cat in the Nickelodeon series ‘Victorious’ from 2010-2013. During those years a trademark of her character named Cat was bright red hair.
To get Grande’s hair that colour and to maintain it through the series, her hair was repetitively bleached and dyed. Damaging it to the point where she had to wear a wig on ‘Sam & Cat’ (2013-2014).
As she moved into her singing career, Grande covered her damaged hair by wearing extensions. In a 2018 interview, she tells Insider “I wear it in a ponytail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down”. Therefore, the ponytail is not her real hair but instead, it is weave.
Twitter fans react to her lob!
Fans on Twitter were taken aback by her new style and couldn’t help but find the funny side, while others missed her former hairstyles. In short, Twitter may not be the biggest fan but the news is still fresh…like her hair.
